When it comes to parasites and worms, just about everybody has them. Parasite and worms are the single most undiagnosed health concern of the human race. Ascaris Lumbricoides, also known as the Roundworm is the most common parasite that infects humans. The eggs are swallowed and the larvae hatch and burrow their way through the intestines and bloodstream until arriving in the heart and lungs. They can remain there for years without being noticed. Symptoms can include difficulty or heavy breathing, heart palpitations, hacking/coughing up bloody phlegm, and blood being present in vomit and stool.
Guardia Lamblia worms enter the body through contaminated water then colonize in the small intestines causing diarrhea, flatulence, foul-tasting burps, and a sulphuric taste in the oral cavity. Symptoms include vomiting, pain, lack of appetite, and blood present in the stool.
Gnathostoma Spinigerium are commonly spread to humans who eat raw or undercooked fish.
Loa Loa, or African Eye Worms, dwell in the blood underneath the skin and become visible once it reaches the sclera [white part] of the eye.
Sarcoptes Scabiei,, long for scabies or itch mites, infect humans, cats, dogs, pigs, koalas, etc. They can cause mange which can result in severe itching, hair loss, and the formation of scabs and lesions.
Blood Fluke, also know as the Schistosome, lives in snails that shed the parasites into the surrounding water. The flukes sniff their way to the skin and drill into a blood vessels. They then travel until they reach the intestines when they take up residence in the blood vessels there. They produce eggs that nudge into the intestinal walls and live there feasting on what you consume.
Tapeworm is a flat worm that usually infects those who drink contaminated water, eat the undercooked meat of infected animals, and those who eat food improperly handled/prepared by an infected person. Tapeworms are normally passed through bowel movements but if the infection is severe they'll cause blockages in the intestines. Untreated tapeworm invasions can be passed to the brain, eyes, heart, and liver, and become fatal.
Toxoplasma Gondii is a parasite that reproduces in the intestines of house cats. When humans are infected, studies have shown links to schizophrenia and slow reaction times.
Wuchereria Bancrofti is a roundworm that enters the human bloodstream via carrier mosquitos.
